I have been training for my 3rd run/walk for months. My first 2 runs were 5ks but I have never done a 10k before. This year I’m taking it up a notch with a life long goal of finally completing the Cooper River Bridge Run in one of my favorite cities, Charleston, SC. I just love everything about the city of Charleston: the food, the music, the history, the art and most of all knowing that my best friend, Carolyn, lives there.
One of the things I wanna do is say that I’ve FINALLY made it over that bridge. Running over that triangle bridge (the battery) will be my symbol of overcoming all the past obstacles in my life. ⭐🙌❤ My mom doesn’t seem to agree when I do these type of things, but I have always been the risky/dare devil child of hers. 😈 Tell my mom that she can go stuff her mouth with an egg. 😂 jk (love u mom.) Excuse me as I prepare for this evenings workout. There is a crystal clear bottle of Dasani water waiting for me and I shall devour it. 😊 💦
A lot of women have told me I helped them transition to eating healthier and some have even started the plant based life too. Even at work, I had no idea that women paid so much attention to what I eat. (I usually eat very light, but you never know who is watching 😂) This girl asked what I do when I work out. One girl told me she wants to get full from eating as fast as I do. Wow! The other asked what kind of smoothie I was drinking. The other girl asked what I had on my salad, “Eating your greens? What’s that?” She aske, looking at my salad and making friendly small talk. I told her I was plant based and she told me good luck because it’s hard. I wanted to tell her that it isn’t hard after getting used to it, but I was ready to eat. Well, guess what? The next morning she was eating her bowl of fruit and so was the other woman lol That’s actually very good to see! Keep going and never give up. It may be tough to be healthy at first but once you start feeling and looking good, you’ll get used to it. Do it for you! I am so glad I was able to at least help some people feel motivated about health. Health is so important. There are so many people running into serious health problems all because of their food choices. You never know who you’re inspiring 😊
I told my mama that she and my dad should join the senior citizens workout class at the hospital and she cussed me out and said, “sh*t, yo dad ain’t gonna do that! He don’t even move around at his own damn house.” 🤦♀️😂😂😂
I walk at the park each day and she keeps saying she will join me, but of course it’s either too hot or too cold.
For over a year I have asked her to walk with me and the dog down our street… she says she isn’t in the mood and does enough yard work as it is lol 🤦♀️😂 🤔 She did walk with the kids (my niece and nephew) to Burger King to treat them out for breakfast lol Doesn’t count.
Sigh. When you try to get your mother to be more physically active, but she prefers to stay in bed and watch old cowboy westerns 😂 She is a very strong woman for her age though. She can push refrigerators and sofas to get things out from under them lol
I always try to push my mom to get some sort of of exercise. Sometimes if she has me to take her to the store, I’ll park further off in the parking lot (sometimes) so she can get in a quick workout 😂
I think it is important to get your parents or grandparents active physically. If you want them to be around longer, it shouldn’t be a question. Continue to check up on them and their health. Don’t forget to always ask if they are taking needed medications and getting their vitamins; even if you annoy them. I like to joke to my mom that I will check her into Shady Pines Retirement home 😂 (The retirement home that Sophia wasn’t so fond of from The Golden Girls 😂)
Tell me your funny stories of how you get your parents, grandparents to get active?
Ummm 🙄 I wasn’t expecting to get my waist this tiny, but that’s only because I’m trying to bulk up by New Years. I had to clean up and tighten a little before building more bricks to my temple 💪💪
I got rid of belly fat… now to get ripped and she-bulk…which means earlier mornings in the gym 🤪 I am not an early- bird, but I read that starting your workouts in the morning will give you more of a positive day. ☀️ I haven’t even had coffee for two mornings and I am already feeling all the feels.
Before I lost the unwanted fat, I was eating lots of bread and adding heavy grease to my cooking. I can remember being so bloated and that screwed up my mood and comfortability. Phew. So I made a few changes to my diet and worked out real hard. The 21 day fix was what got rid of my unwanted fat on my belly. TRY IT!
I ALSO went plant based but I can’t seem to get off of it. I think that helped with all this boost to my mood, but that’s another blog. 🤗
